So! Great news, we have about 3100 without my fundraisers which means we are well on our way. We already finished one fundraiser at school and made about 250.00 and we are having a bake sale tomorrow which we hope will bring in more money. People have been donating to the cause as well and I would just like to thank everyone for helping! This time two months from now I'll be making it happen = ]

Less than two months!
Hello everyone,
my apologies for not updating in a while. Things have been very crazy with AP exams and graduation pending. Last week there was a Fundraiser for my trip at home in Boston. For those of you who couldn't make it, it was AMAZING. We had great food, music, poetry and so much more that just made the evening better. We raised over 700 dollars in the span of 5 hours which is much more than I expected! Special thanks to everyone who helped put on the fundraiser; Laura B, Erica S, Maria K, Mary A, and Jane B. You guys went above and beyond and I am so blessed to have people like you all in my life. Also, to my mom who has gone above and beyond for me since day one. She is an amazingly gifted, creative and strong woman and I thank her for being the light in my life. I have learned so much from just watching her and being in her presence and I couldn't ask for a better mom.
So far I have raised about 2,000 without the school fundraiser which has been pushed back until next week the 16th of May. We plan to do a bake sale, dress down day, and dance at the school which we hope will bring in a lot of money. There isn't much time left before I leave and there is so much to do. I've already begun my online training and in no time I will be off to Miami and thereafter to Honduras!

It's been a week or so now and I have been making some strides as far as fundraisers go. At school, we are hosting a post Cinco de Mayo dance and are devoting an entire week to different cultures. We plan on holding salsa classes of some kind and offering information about current situations in specific Latin American Countries. My mother is also lending a hand. She is planning a big fundraiser on May 1st. There will be a silent auction, food, dance, poetry and more. I'm hoping that all of this will help out tremendously. I'm hopeful!

My name is Jayde Bennett. I am 18 years old and am trying to be the change that I wish to see in the world. This summer I plan to travel to La Paz, Honduras for an opportunity to volunteer with and organization called AMIGOS de las Americas. While I have had other opportunities such as this, this trip is by far the most influential. I have the opportunity to spend six weeks in a rural mountainous community working closely with its inhabitants in collaboration with PLAN international. Not only is this an opportunity to better the relationship between our country and Latin America, but it is also a great opportunity for my personal goals such as bettering my Spanish.
